Tulare County supervisors, early adopters that they are, have passed an urgency ordinance prohibiting Tulare County dispensaries and medical cannabis collectives involving two or more people. Meaning just about everyone. UPDATE: The 45-day ordinance was extended for another 22 months, 15 days by the Board of Supervisors on April 23, 2013. Redding’s ban on medical marijuana dispensaries doesn’t have court backing after a Shasta County Superior Court judge Wednesday denied the city’s request for an order for the storefronts to close. Judge Stephen Baker denied the city’s request for the preliminary injunction that would have compelled the dispensaries to close. Medical marijuana users in Fresno County saw perhaps their last hope for easier access to the drug vanish on Tuesday. Local medical marijuana advocates have dropped plans for a ballot initiative aimed at loosening Fresno County’s new marijuana law, Kurtis Alexander reports in the Fresno Bee news blog. Kings County supervisors brought the hammer down on medical marijuana Tuesday, voting to put in place a tough ordinance that will force commercial operations to shut down and allow only for personal growing indoors. The federal government’s vow to clamp down on medical marijuana this month comes as a boon to Fresno County authorities who have recently begun enforcing their own restrictions.
