The grandson of Clovis Mayor Harry Armstrong will be sentenced in Fresno County Superior Court on Jan. 31 after pleading guilty to a felony charge of cultivating marijuana. Because David Armstrong, 25, admitted guilt, prosecutors dropped a felony charge of possession of marijuana for sale. A Fresno man who fatally wounded a thief while protecting his backyard medical-marijuana garden last year was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter Tuesday. Phayvanh Dydouangphan, 47, also was found guilty of assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle in the Sept. 8 shooting death of Stanley Wallace, 40, of Caruthers. The medicinal marijuana dispensary that set up shop in Los Banos this past summer is gone. In the past week, Hollister-based Purple Cross Rx removed its furniture and supplies from the suite it was renting at 225 N. Mercey Springs Road. DELHI — Narcotics agents found 550 marijuana plants and arrested two men hiding in secret compartments underneath a double-wide trailer home that was hollowed out for the sole purpose of growing marijuana indoors, Merced County sheriff’s officials said.
